While she’s still glad she took on the role, Johnson described everything that went wrong.
“I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in something, I want to know so much about it,” the actress explained. “I signed on to do a very different version of the movie that we ended up doing.”
She explained that a combination of the studio, the directors and the source material of the books, written by EL James, were to blame for the problems.
“The writer wanted to be in control of the film, all day, every day, and she just demanded that certain things happen. There were parts of the book that just wouldn’t work in a movie. There were many disagreements. “I’ve never been able to talk about it honestly because you want to promote a film the right way and I’m proud of what we ended up doing, but it was difficult,” the actress said.
He added: “We shot the movie that Erika wanted to make and then we shot the movie that we wanted to make. The night before, I was rewriting scenes with the old dialogue so I could add a line here and there. It was like chaos the whole time.”
