For almost two decades, the series “Grey’s Anatomy” is one of the most successful television series in ABC history, featuring lovable characters that have stayed with audiences since its premiere on March 27, 2005. Over the years, it has handled the various cast changes well and continues to be one of the most popular series. Now, its protagonist, Ellen Pompeohas officially announced that it will be leaving the series after 19 seasons.
The character of Meredith Grey, although she no longer had so much weight, was the link between the old and the new, so her departure, as expected, has shocked the “fans” of the series.
However, she notes that the series will continue and that she herself will likely make a guest appearance in the future, but we’ll have to wait and see if fans will stay loyal to the series now that its main protagonist is gone.

“I’m leaving grateful for your support and love for 19 seasons,” Pompeo wrote on Instagram to make the official announcement of her departure.
“I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you all have shown me, Meredith Grey, and the show for 19 seasons! Through it all…none of it…would have been possible without the best fans in the world. I love you madly and I appreciate you too.”
