In a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, the actress, who returns as Neytiri in James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water, said that she has failed to evolve or grow in an artistic sense as over the past decade he worked on franchise films such as ‘Star Trek’, ‘Avatar’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
“I feel like the last 10 years of my life, I’ve just been stuck. I felt stuck doing these franchises. I’m so grateful for the opportunities they’ve given me, to work with amazing directors and to meet actors I consider friends and to play roles that audiences love, especially kids,” said Saldana.
“But it also meant that I felt artistically stuck, unable to evolve or mature or challenge myself by playing different genres and different roles,” she added.
THE Saldana she said during the interview that she is happy as she is now involved in projects other than franchises, such as her recent Netflix series “From Scratch” (which she produced) and David O. Russell’s crime film “Amsterdam” , in which he starred alongside Christian Bale and Margot Robbie.
