We travel to 7 wonderful villages for the days of Christmas

by

In this season, escapes have their due. Have fun…

It is perhaps the most illuminated, the most brilliant period of the whole year, but also the time when winter makes its presence and power felt. But at the same time it is also the time when escapes have their due.

That’s why we made a list of 7 wonderful villages throughout Greece that could be the ideal place for this bright holiday of the year…

  • Krikello – Evrytania

Built at an altitude of 1,120 meters, on the eastern side of Kaliakouda, Krikello is our first proposal for these holidays. The 26 kilometers of fir forests that separate it from Karpenissi are completely white during the winter months, since the area is one of the first to be covered in the white mantle of snow, giving visitors the clearest images.

The huge stone-built square of the village is also the meeting place for all residents and visitors. In its center, the imposing church of Agios Nikolaos has dominated there since 1903, while this wonderful image is complemented by the fountains, coffee houses and traditional taverns that operate non-stop all year round.

  • Platanos – Nafpaktia

Built on the eastern slopes of Mount Alonaki in Mountainous Nafpaktia, at an altitude of only 850 meters, it answers with vigor to all those who are unaware of its existence. It takes its name from the huge sycamore that once existed at the location of Megali Vrysi, while it is located under a magnificent forest densely planted with firs, skulls and cedars.

Nafpaktia

The mostly stone houses with tiled roofs of Platanos, its spacious square, museums, traditional taverns, cafes, rental houses, its cobbled narrow streets and the abundant hospitality of the locals, are many of the reasons to visit it the great village that only has wonderful images to offer the visitor.

  • Athanasios Diakos – Fokidas

Athanasios Diakos is built at an altitude of 1,050 meters on the eastern slopes of Vardousia, in the heart of Roumeli, and is a starting point for many enchanting mountain routes in an “alpine” picture with fir trees growing as far as the eye can see.

Phocis

Its large paved square hosts all the life of the village. The taverns with tables and chairs in front of the statue of the hero that was installed there by Plastiras in 1922 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Revolution, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior built in 1872, but also the two centuries-old plane trees in the square , create a paradise on earth that you will hardly want to leave its embrace.
