Brazilian comedian Fábio Rabin was arrested in Qatar before the match between Brazil and South Korea, this Monday (5) for the round of 16 of the World Cup. The actor, who was on his way to the 974 Stadium to watch the game, reported in a video that he was arrested and taken to a room, where he would have been threatened by armed police. Rabin tearfully shared that he feared losing his life to the rebuke in the Middle Eastern country. According to him, the authorities did not identify the reasons for the detention.

“I’m glad I’m not dead. I was locked in a room with these guys, I turned on a live there and I think it saved me. There’s another guy who’s still there. I almost died because I tried to help the man. I said: ‘This guy is with me too’. They didn’t say the reason for arresting us there. They said: ‘he’s sober’, and nothing else. They put me in a room and told me to smile. I was very afraid of losing my life”, revealed the comedian.

The comedian confirmed to UOL that he had been drinking, but that other people around him would also be drunk. No one was arrested but him. Friends also told the report that Fábio was drunk to the point of barely being able to walk after Brazil’s 4-1 victory. In Qatar, public drunkenness is a crime and can result in imprisonment of up to six months.

At the end of the night, Camila Pinheiro, Fábio’s girlfriend, used her social networks to comment on the matter. “Guys, Fabio sent a message! He’s fine, he’s already met his friends! Thank God he’s fine! When he’s calmer, he’ll talk to everyone to calmly explain what happened”, she posted.
