The life of Frank Sinatra is being made into a Broadway musical

by

“Sinatra the Musical” begins on New Year’s Eve 1942, when the 27-year-old Italian-American singer “was preparing to take the stage at New York’s Paramount Theater and give a performance that changed the history of music.”

A new stage musical based on the life and career of legendary actor and singer Frank Sinatra himself is “in the works”.

It will be produced by Universal Music Group Theatrical in association with Tina Sinatra, the late artist’s youngest daughter, and Frank Sinatra Enterprises.

“Sinatra the Musical” on Broadway will take audiences back to New Year’s Eve 1942, when the 27-year-old Italian-American singer was “preparing to take the stage at New York’s Paramount Theater and give a performance that changed history of music”.

The musical will then explore his rise to the top, his relationship with his wife Nancy, his passionate affair with film star Ava Gardner and his return to music after first retiring in 1971.

“Frank Sinatra is one of the greatest icons of the 20th century. We are thrilled to be working with Tina to produce this show that will be a continued evolution of Frank Sinatra’s limitless cultural influence,” said Universal Music Group Executive Vice President Michelle Anthony.

The musical has a libretto by writer Joe DiPietro and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.
