Charlize Theron: ‘I don’t need to be enigmatic’ – Her message for women

by

Of the women, the star said: “We’re worried that if we don’t work harder and keep pushing, we’ll never make it to the finish line. And it’s exhausting.”

Charlize Theron’s attitude towards life has been shaped by the dramatic events she has experienced.

The actress realized early on that “you can’t have it all” after experiencing tragedy in her younger years.

The Oscar-winning star, whose mother shot and killed her father when she was still a child, explained: “One thing that early tragedy brought to me is the realization that you can’t have it all. You just don’t have it. And it’s easy to say, ‘Oh, it’s a movie,’ but then it’s another movie and another.

And I don’t want to sound like I’m carrying a message, but I’m thinking about women. We worry that if we don’t work harder and keep pushing, we’ll never get to the finish line. And it’s exhausting. I never feel like, ‘Oh, I can just enjoy this.'”

Despite her success, Charlize insists she doesn’t act like a stereotypical movie star. The acclaimed actress does not feel the need to act “enigmatic”.

In a full-length interview with The Hollywood Reporter, I also said: “I could be wrong, but I don’t think anyone I’ve ever worked with would say, ‘Oh, I don’t know her,'” and added:

“I’m so clear when I meet someone, even if it’s the set of a TV show, and I don’t need to be enigmatic… I don’t want to waste all this time with you thinking I’m an enigmatic movie star. Let’s tear down all the walls so we can get to know each other.”
