Xuxa recalls sexual abuse in Pedro Bial’s documentary: ‘It moved me’

The documentary directed by Pedro Bial for Globoplay about Xuxa Meneghel is in the finalization phase, but the presenter does not hide her anxiety with the arrival of the production in streaming. And she said that it was not easy to remember details of the sexual abuse she suffered in childhood, from four to 13 years old, portrayed in one of the scenes of the work.

Xuxa had revealed to Bial that, when she suffered the last abuse, she went to the sea and rubbed herself with sand. “They played this scene. It was therapeutic, it was strong and moved me. At the same time, it was liberating. It seems that I opened that little box that was hurting me and faced it head on.”, said Xuxa who participated in the recording in the sea of ​​Angra of Kings. “I also felt protected because I was next to Pedro. We had a very strong scene in Angra”, he acknowledged in an interview with the newspaper Extra.

The presenter also spoke about the strong campaign she ran against Jair Bolsonaro’s re-election in the last presidential elections. “I’ve always been apolitical. My policy has always been that of children. I never wanted to put myself in front, I’m not capable or understand enough about the subject. But I felt obliged when I thought I was crossing the line. It was the moment to be alongside people who made me come this far, like gays, who are the majority in my audience,” he explained.

Xuxa received support, but was also heavily criticized for her positioning. She believes that the exhibition could affect her works from now on and that she has lost some friends: “We now have the concern of who we are going to invite to work with me. “, she began, who even gave examples.

“There are classes, like that of the sertanejos, which was what they believed… Then I have a program and I’m going to interview a sertanejo. How am I going to talk to this person? So I don’t mince words. The future is different, and I know I won’t be able to stay quiet”, confessed Xuxa.
