Adele and Ed Sheeran, with four nominations each, are vying for the prestigious BRIT Awards for 2022, as announced late Saturday night.
Rappers Dave and Little Sims also have four nominations on this year’s list of top artists last year where, for the first time, the categories for best “male” or “female” musician were removed.
Last month, organizers announced they would be awarding “racially neutral” awards to British and international artists who are now vying for the “Artist of the Year” or “International Artist of the Year” awards, regardless of gender.
Adele, who is at the top of the charts with her new album “30”, is claiming the awards for best album, best artist and best song for Easy On Me. In the category of best album and artist of the year, she will be confronted with the composer-singer Sam Fender.
In the international artist category, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Billy Eiles and Lil Nas X are each vying for two awards but will have to compete with Taylor Swift.
The Brit Awards will be presented on February 8 in London.
