The Puerto Rican artist now holds the world record for the highest-grossing tour in a calendar year
He was named the most streamed artist on Spotify in 2022 and continues to break records as the year draws to a close. THE Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny now holds the world record for the highest-grossing tour in a calendar year, totaling $435.38 million from 81 shows.
The previous record was set by Ed Sheeran in 2018, who grossed $432.3 million from his ‘Divide’ world tour.
Bad Bunny kicked off his World’s Hottest Tour on August 5th in Orlando, USA, and the final two concerts took place on December 9th and 10th at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium. According to Pollstar, the artist earned over US$10 million from these two appearances alone.
The World’s Hottest Tour was Bad Bunny’s second world tour of 2022. Earlier in the year, he ran the 36-stop “El Último Tour Del Mundo” tour starting in Denver in February and ending in Miami in early April.
“I think we’re all very proud of what he’s accomplished. It’s a remarkable feat,” Live Nation VP of Global Touring Hans Schafer told Pollstar. “It’s huge for Latin music and unprecedented and a major achievement in itself, regardless of genre, to see an artist of his age reach that high,” he added.
