Dad says Britney Spears would be dead without 13-year-old guardianship

The father of singer Britney Spears, 41, broke his silence and claimed that his daughter would be dead without guardianship of 13 years. Jamie Spears, 70, defended himself from fans’ accusations that he is a monster and added that he rescued the singer’s relationship with her teenage children, in an interview with The Sun tabloid.

“My God, where would she be without that guardianship now? I’m not going to paint you any pretty pictures,” he said. “Without [a tutela] I don’t know if she would be alive now”, said Jaime, who controlled her daughter’s life, career and finances.

Jamie says everything he did was for the daughter he still adores. Despite being accused by Britney and fans alike of lining his own pockets with money, he is desperate to mend their broken relationship. “I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. This situation between us is just terrible.”

Jamie also supported the singer’s ex-husband, dancer Kevin Federline’s recent claim that the guardianship order did not destroy their relationship with their children. “I don’t believe she would have gotten the children back without guardianship.”

The singer files a lawsuit against her father in which she accuses him of abusing his role as guardian of her career and stealing from her when he should be managing her finances, according to TMZ. The singer’s lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, said he has documentation with material evidence and that the singer will not testify in the process as she asks for her father’s defense.

Since she was freed from her father’s guardianship, in November 2021, the pop princess has been making a series of posts that resulted in the breakup of relations with her brothers, Jamie Lynn and Bryan Spears, and with her mother, Lynne Spears.
