Adriano Imperador, a former soccer player, guessed the result of the final match of the World Cup and took almost R$30,000 as a prize for the bet he made last Sunday (18).
The former player’s guess was that, at the end of the match, the game between Argentina and France would be tied, which actually happened. The dispute ended in regulation time at 2-2 and became 3-3 during extra time.
Argentina’s victory was decided on penalties. The final score was 4-2, giving the South American country the title, the first in the region to win the tournament since Brazil in 2002.
“I’m thinking it’s going to be a draw tomorrow, habib. It’s going to penalties, not even the horse can handle it”, wrote Adriano on his Instagram account.
The former athlete bet BRL 9,500 on the game. His post, which also had a photo of the bet, surpassed 150 thousand likes, with more than 5,000 comments, until the morning of this Tuesday (20).
The outcome of the bets was also happy for Canadian rapper Drake. The musician has a reputation for being unlucky in sports and has already lost large sums of money betting on sports such as Formula 1, MMA and even football.
In November this year, for example, he bet an amount equivalent to R$ 10.4 million (US$ 2 million) against the Brazilian Alex “Poatan” UFC fighter, who knocked out the Nigerian opponent Israel Adesanya.
Despite getting the score wrong, with a bet on a 2-1 victory for Argentina in regular time, Drake did not lose all the money bet, as is usually the case in the so-called “Drake curse”.
The musician bet an amount equivalent to R$ 5.3 million (US$ 1 million). Even though he didn’t get the numbers right, he guessed who would win and took the prize of US$ 2.75 million, approximately R$ 15.1 million.
