Father Kelmon is expelled from the Orthodox Church of Peru in Brazil

The politician Padre Kelmon (PTB), a former presidential candidate, was dismissed from the Orthodox Church of Peru in Brazil. The information was published last Friday (16) in a post by the entity on Facebook. The letter suspends the activities of two priests: Kelmon and Lucas Soares Chagas, who are prevented from conducting activities of the religious denomination.

The document was signed by representatives of the Orthodox Church by Mor Francisco Ángel Ernesto Móran Vidal, metropolitan archbishop in Peru and highest authority of the Catholic Apostolic Orthodox Church of Peru, and Monsignor Miguel, episcopal vicar in Brazil.

“We decided to cancel Provision 0025/21 conferred on Fr. Kelmon Luis da Silva. sacraments and to speak on behalf of the Orthodox Church of Peru-Canonical Tradition Syro Ortodoxa Malankara Indiana”, says the church.

“Now it will only be Fr. de Festa Junina really…”, says the comment by internet user Márcio Antônio Aguiar, in the church’s post referring to the phrase said by the former presidential candidate, Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil), during the debate of presidential candidates shown by TV Globo.

At the time, Soraya missed the name of the former candidate more than once and referred to him as “Candidato padre” and “Padre de festa junina”, the phrases quickly took over social media and became prominent memes of the election race.

Father Kelmon, known for his position allied with President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), during the debates of the electoral race, also became one of the prominent memes of the election.

The former president ended the race in 7th place, with 0.07%.
