A tribute to David Bowie on January 8, the anniversary of the iconic artist’s birth, is reserved by the Heroes tribute band at the Agora of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).
The first multi-collective band in Greece is preparing a program where all of Bowie’s musical periods will be paraded chronologically, in songs performed by different singers with each one capturing a period of his vast work.
From 1969’s Space Oddity to 2016’s Blackstar, Bowie has left an indelible mark on the art scene through landmark songs and records. A difficult undertaking achieved through constant search, improvisation and innovation.
The Heroes tribute band started its journey about six years ago, on the occasion of Bowie’s death, and has many live shows to its credit. The first took place in 2016, under the auspices of the UN High Commission, with the aim of raising money for refugee relief. Since then he has been participating in tributes gathering crowds of people, but also excellent reviews.
The “Heroes tribute band” consists of Tolis Fasois, Sugahspank!, Lou is, George Bilios, George Gaudy (vocals), Vangelis Stephanopoulos, piano/keyboards, George Vasilatos (electric guitar), Marios Laz Ioannidis (acoustic guitar), Stelios Paschalis (drums), Thodoris Kapetanakos (bass) and Sam Marlieri (saxophone).
The concert at the SNFCC takes place with free admission
