‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘The Woman King’ and ‘Tár’: Obama’s favorite movies in 2022

Former US President Barack Obama (2019-2017) posted a list of his favorite movies of 2022 on his social media. The politician highlighted 17 titles.

The selection is eclectic and includes productions from different genres and countries, such as the French drama “Little Mom”, by filmmaker Céline Sciamma and the Japanese novel “Wheel of Destiny”, by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, as well as American blockbusters such as “Top Gun: Maverick “, by Joseph Kosinski and “The Woman King”, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

“I’ve seen great movies this year – here are some of my favorites. What did I miss?” he asked in a post on his Instagram account.

Listing movies, books and songs at the end of the year has become something of a tradition for the former president. The 2020 selection, for example, included “Bacurau”, by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles. The national feature received more than 30 awards around the world, including the best film by the Cannes Film Festival jury in 2019.
