After publishing a meme on Twitter, the social network of which he has been president since October this year, Elon Musk again had his name involved in a controversy on the web this Wednesday (28). The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has said that he does not identify as a cisgender man, that is, that he does not identify with the biological sex he was born with.
It all started when Elon posted an image of a person wearing a protective mask and with various symbols of social movements, such as the LGBTQIA+ flag and the feminist emblem, in addition to the logos of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter itself. The figure also had syringes strapped to its arms.
On the other side, there was a man who only carried the American flag in one hand. The billionaire entrepreneur even wrote: “I am not a brainwashed person.”
Canadian scientist and entrepreneur Danielle Fong responded with another meme, in which Elon appeared to be a scared little girl under a desk when confronted by a robot who wanted to know what pronouns he liked to use.
Elon then countered: “I’m not a fan of pronouns when someone is giving you every possible visual clue that it’s him or her, but you still insist on saying exactly what you thought it was. I support pronouns that aren’t completely obvious. based on visual cues.”
That’s when another internet user, who identifies himself as Fred Scharmen, decided to explain why he considered it important. “We cis people are explicit with pronouns beyond visual cues to help normalize the expression of those who may not be cis. Simple as that.” Musk wasted no time in replying, “I’m not cis, you are.”
In early December, Musk criticized the US government’s chief epidemiologist Anthony Fauci and former Twitter security chief Yoel Roth over gender and sexuality issues. He further mocked him about the debate over the use of pronouns – particularly by trans and non-binary people – and at the same time he took a shine to Fauci, suggesting that the doctor should be sued: “My pronouns are Process/Fauci.”
Remember that Musk has a trans daughter. Born as Xavier Alexander Musk, she asked to be called Vivian Jenna Wilson, 18, so that her name coincides with her gender and starts using her mother’s maiden name, divorced from Elon Musk in 2008. The billionaire is the father of Griffin, Kai, Saxon and Damian, fruits of his relationship with his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson. In 2002, her son Nevada Alexander died at just 10 weeks old after suffering from sudden infant death syndrome.
He is still the father of twins, the result of a relationship with the executive of the company Neurolink, Shivon Zilis36and two more with his ex-wife, singer Grimes.
