Video posted on social media shows the 28-year-old rapper walking with a woman in the Dominican Republic, who tries to take a selfie with him on her cellphone.
Clearly irritated by her presence, the musician grabs the phone from her hand and hurls it into the sea, much to the astonishment of those present.
Bad Bunny commented on the video on Twitter, writing, “The person who comes up to me to say hi, say something, or just meet me will always have my attention and respect. Anyone who comes and shoves a damn phone in my face, I’ll take it for what it is, disrespect, and I’ll deal with it accordingly.”
This move by the rapper divided his fans as some believe that the singer overdid it, while others justified him.
“I understand he needs his personal space but he can’t be out here trying to live a normal life when he’s a huge celebrity,” one fan wrote. “The world will be all over him.”
“Wow! He or his reps better buy her another phone,” said another. “No matter what she told him, he has no right to throw her phone at her.”
On the other hand, his defenders wrote that he might be “tired” or that he “needs a break”.
