The Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Silvio Almeida, 46, likes rap metal and used to have a band. Almeida’s past was discovered by Internet users through posts on Twitter by the former professor at the law schools of Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and Fundação Getúlio Vargas.
Almeida responded to a post by rapper Mano Brown, member of Racionais MC’s, in June 2020. The singer asked his followers what was the first song by his band they heard and the minister replied: “‘O Homem da Estrada’. covered in the rap metal band I had and still listen to today.”
Internet user @benskylab was amazed at Almeida’s taste in music and asked if he liked the heavy metal band Body Count, by rapper Ice T., one of the forerunners of gangsta rap.
“I played a lot of Body Count, Suicical Tendencies, Infectious Groove. I even had a hat with the ‘D’ from Dean Pleasants”, replied the current Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, who was praised by the netizen. “My admiration for you only increases! Thanks for your performance, professor!”, wrote @benskylab.
Internet user Fernando Fabiano Lima was also impressed with Almeida. “A minister who enjoys sound, enjoys skateboarding and even had a band… am I really in Brazil?”, questioned Lima. “I can already imagine young Silvio Almeida freaking out on the soundtrack of Judgment Night, a classic for every black kid who knew that rock and metal was ours too”, commented Oga Mendonça.
