Brazilian national team player Daniel Alves, 39, spoke for the first time on Thursday (5) about the accusation of sexual harassment he is facing in Barcelona. He participated in the program Y Ahora Sonsoles (TV Antena 3) and stated that he was in the same disco as the woman who accuses him, but denied having touched her without permission.
The player confirmed that he was at the Sutton disco in Barcelona, on December 30, with friends to dance and was enjoying the place without invading other people’s space. He said he decided to go to the bathroom without telling anyone, but he didn’t know who was there.
The woman claimed that the player would have put his hand inside her clothes in the bathroom of the club without her permission. According to the program, footage from the nightclub’s security cameras shows that the two went to the bathroom and, seconds later, she left the place crying.
After leaving the bathroom, the woman was supported by her friends and said that she was harassed by a famous person. She filed a police complaint against the player, who denies the charge. “I don’t know who this lady is, I don’t know her. I don’t know her name, I don’t know her, I’ve never seen her before in my life”, assured Daniel Alves.
The player stated that he never invaded anyone’s space and that he would not do that with a woman. “How would I do that to a woman, for God’s sake”, said Daniel who asked for the accusation to stop. “It’s hurting me and my whole family because they know who I am.”
