On Saturday, November 6, the Happy Traveler fulfills a travel goal of the show: to visit the Netherlands, the time when tulips are in bloom. The trip took place during the European road trip, in which our travelers covered 10,000 kilometers in 40 days.
In the first part of the trip to the country, which is largely below sea level, Eftychis and Electra visit the capital Amsterdam, with its historic old town and emblematic circular canals. They go to Utrecht which has one of the most well-preserved medieval cities in the Netherlands and tour the open food market with traditional delicacies. They ride a bike in a village with windmills and find out why the windmills in the Netherlands are actually “wind pumps”. They go just outside Rotterdam to meet some of our well-known bridges – the ones we see every day on euro banknotes.
