Lawyer Kakay appears in swim trunks and gown with a glass of wine in a viral photo

A humorous photo of a famous criminal lawyer circulated on WhatsApp and leaked on social media this Wednesday (22). In it, Antonio Carlos de Almeida Castro, better known as Kakay, appears wearing a swimsuit with a black gown over it, holding a glass of wine while posing for the camera, smiling.

The image was published by columnist Lauro Jardim, from O Globo. Kakay confirmed the accuracy of the image and explained to F5 that it was taken at home during the pandemic on the day of a trial and sent to his office. “I evidently didn’t wear a suit [em casa], but he always wore a gown in honor of the courts. This photo is a year and a half old,” said the lawyer.

During social isolation, “looks” of people dressed only to the waist for video calls were successful on the Internet. “This photo is my right, taken in the privacy of my home,” continues Kakay.

“As they now say that I want to be a candidate for the Senate — which is a lie, I never want to be a candidate for anything — they are saying that I am taking this photo to compete with Lula, which is absurd”, he declared in reference to the photo published by the former president’s fiancee, Rosângela Silva, in August of this year.

The Minas Gerais lawyer gained fame for defending important Brazilian politicians and celebrities. He has already worked for names like José Sarney, Itamar Franco, Romero Jucá, Aécio Neves and Paulo Maluf.

In the artistic sphere, he had as clients the actress Carolina Dieckmann, in a lawsuit against Google, and the singer Roberto Carlos, in a case against the author of his biography.

But Kakay’s outfit has been a topic before. In 2019, he appeared in the corridors of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) wearing shorts and a simple shirt, disrespecting the convention that determines the use of social clothing. At the time, the lawyer was criticized, and apologized in a note.
