Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s film won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay, among others.

The film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” – which had the most nominations, 14 in total – was awarded in five categories at the 28th Critics Choice Awards ceremony, which is considered a precursor to the Oscars.

The film by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, among others. Accepting the award for Best Screenplay, which was won by veterans such as James Cameron, Baz Luhrmann and Steven Spielberg, Daniel Quan held the envelope and showed his name and his collaborator’s name to the audience, and Scheinert said: “That’s not wrong! ».

Addressing his fellow nominees, Daniel Scheinert added: “Thank you to all the storytellers and filmmakers who inspired me to become a filmmaker, you are in the same category as me. This is despicable! Hello! But you inspired me and that means a lot. And your movies have changed my life.”

Kwan thanked his mother, who was his inspiration for Evelyn Wang, played by Michelle Yeoh in the film. “He was the first person who planted the seed in my mind that I could be a director,” Kwan said. “She’s probably the first Asian immigrant woman in America who ever told her son to go to film school.”

Brendan Fraser won the Best Actor award for his role in The Whale.

“The Whale is about love. It’s about redemption. It’s about finding the light in a dark place,” said a visibly moved Fraser. After thanking his co-stars Hong Chow, Daniel Sink, Ty Simpkins and director Darren Aronofsky, he noted: “I was in the wilderness and I probably should have left a trail of crumbs. But you found me and, like all the best directors, you just showed me where to go to get to where I needed to be.”
