Kallithea with its… magical view is visited by Dimitris Skarmoutsos her Sunday, January 22 at 17.45, on SKAI.
It was founded in 1884 and is said to owe its name to the unique view it offered of the Saronic Sea. In Kallithea, people from different corners of the world become neighbors and friends at the tables, where flavors from all traditions come together in one meal.
Dimitris Skarmoutsou’s culinary exploration in the neighborhood starts from “Penelope’s Marmelades”, a small workshop full of sweet creations, traditional jams, spoon sweets with fresh fruits and spices as well as sweet and sour aromatic chutneys.
Second stop at “Ramona”! A historic tavern with nice home cooking and great stews which has the ability, when the circumstances require it, to turn into a… late-night bar, staying open even until 07.00 in the morning!
A different proposal is “Iberia”, which is Dimitris Skarmoutsou’s next stop. A restaurant with Georgian flavors, breads and pies baked in the built underground oven. Delicious traditional recipes in a friendly environment.
A tour of Kallithea should not miss the “Russians” for skewers with a secret sauce and fluffy piroski. A hangout for foodies that has stood the test of time.
Returning to the studio o Dimitris Skarmoutsos prepares two delicious recipes: salad with baked vegetables and dressing with anthotyro and rice with vegetables and feta bechamel.
See you next week in another neighborhood!
