Authorities in Amiens believe the ‘Queen of Pop’ has a valuable painting lost in World War I in her collection
Amiens, France is vying for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2028 and – on the occasion of this claim – the city authorities have invited Madonna to lend the city a painting, which historians believe has been lost for years and it may now be in her collection.
In a video message, the city’s mayor, Brigitte Fouret, appealed to Madonna, saying: “There is a special bond between you and our city.”

The painting, “Diana and Endymion” has been attributed to Jerome Martin Langlois. Before World War I, the Louvre had lent the artwork to the Musée De Picardie in Amiens, where it was exhibited.
During the war and the bombing of the city in 1918, the painting was lost and – officially – its whereabouts have not been documented since then.
