The structure accommodates 70 children with very severe disabilities

No electricity risked to stay the institution “Ark of Love”which houses 70 children with very severe disabilities, as at noon on Saturday, a DEDDIE crew went to the building that houses the closed structure at 29 Kon/nou Palaiologou Street, near Marouda Square, in order to proceed with power outage.

This action prevented after the strong reaction of the workers, who reported that lives would be in danger as some people are supported by oxygen and a power cut could cost them their lives. The crew left idle, but the Management and Employees of the Foundation are in great turmoil.
“It’s unacceptable where it happened. A DEDDIE crew came to cut off the electricity in an institution that houses 70 children with severe disabilities. It’s a shame…”, declares the president of the Board of Directors. of the Ark of Love, Katerina Nikolaou.
He adds: “There are children who need permanent oxygen support and a power outage could put their lives at risk. Did those who ordered the crew to come and cut our power not think about it? Does no one care about these lives?’ asks Mrs. Nikolaou indignantly.

The institution because of the serious financial problems that he faces is unable to be consistent in his obligations towards DEDDIE, as a result of which the debts amount to approximately 20,000 euros. However, he adds, “we try at regular intervals to pay a sum of money against – outside of regulation because we are unable under the current circumstances to respond – and an employee of the Foundation had already contacted DEDDIE and had assured that by Tuesday we would pay an amount of money. But we have come to the point of experiencing the hard face of an organization… Here everyone is in debt and they decided to cut off the power to the Foundation without warning. That’s sad…”
Ms. Nikolaou is once again asking for the intervention of the state and the competent minister so that a generous grant is approved so that the Foundation can cope with its increased needs.
