A report released on Wednesday (25) by the police of Washoe County, Nevada, in the United States, says that actor Jeremy Renner, 51, known for playing Hawkeye in “The Avengers”, was trying to save his nephew adult, on New Year’s Day, when he was run over by the snowplow.
In a statement to the police, the actor said that the emergency brake was not activated when he used the machine to remove the truck that was stuck in the snow. “The snowplow began to slide, causing Renner to exit the vehicle without applying the emergency brake,” the report reads.
The police report further says that the brake indicator light on the machine was not working and “mechanical problems may have been a factor in this accident”. “Although the remover had some mechanical issues, it is believed, based on our mechanical inspection, that the brake would prevent it from moving forward,” the report concludes.
After the accident, the actor’s nephew provided first aid and waited for rescuers to arrive. Renner was seriously injured and was taken by air ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he underwent two surgeries and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
The actor was discharged from the hospital on January 17 and shared a post on social networks saying that he was already at home watching an episode of the series “Mayor of Kingstown” with his family.
“Despite my recovering mental fog, I was very happy to watch the 201st episode with my family at home”, wrote Jeremy on Twitter in response to a post promoting the series – he is one of the protagonists.
