The concert is part of the events of the “Speech and Music” cycle

At the tribute concert “Mikis, this known unknown”which takes place at the Athens Concert Hall on Saturday, February 4 at 8:00 p.m., Maria Farandouri performs for the first time in Greece the river cantata-song “O Epizon” in poetry by Takis Sinopoulos and set to music by Mikis Theodorakis in 1969 during his exile in Zatuna.

As the composer himself notes, “within Sinopoulos’s poem there is a breathless cry of anguish for the man who touched me so much that I set it to music… “O Epizon” was our great success abroad. Maria Farandouri sang it in a sensational way.”

On the same evening, in the Alexandra Trianti Hall, the internationally recognized performer and distinguished bathyphonist Tasos Apostolou will also present well-known songs by Mikis Theodorakis from the cycles “Odyssia”, “Poetica”, “Asmata”, “Serenates”, “Mauthausen”, “Ballads” as well as songs based on the poetry of Kalvos, Seferis, Elytis, Ritsou, Lorka, Anagnostaki, Gatsu, etc. The orchestrations are signed by Achilleas Vastor, who has also taken over the musical direction of the ensemble that will accompany the performers.

The concert is part of the events of the “Speech and Music” cycle. Ticket prices from 9 to 50 euros.
