The youtuber PewDiePie (codename of the Swedish Felix Kjellberg), 33, announced this Sunday (5) that he will be a father for the first time. He published a video on social networks in which he appears next to his wife, the Italian Marzia Kjellberg, discovering the news.

“Yes, I’m going to be a father”, he says in the images, where he records the moment the couple discovered the pregnancy, in November last year, and Marzia’s growing belly. “It’s still a bit of a strange idea for me. I’m entering new territory, but I’m ready.”

In just over 4 hours, the video already had more than 1.3 million views on YouTube, where his channel has 111 million subscribers. PewDiePie was once the youtuber with the most followers on the platform, but was overtaken by the American Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, last year.

The news thrilled part of the fans, who have followed PewDiePie since 2010. At the time, he was a student living on a student loan at the bank. In order to dedicate himself to the hobby of playing games, he dropped out of college and started selling hot dogs to support himself.

Initially, the influencer produced content mostly about games, but later began to diversify the subjects. He became YouTube’s most followed individual for the first time in 2013, and in 2019 he became the first YouTuber to pass 100,000 subscribers on his channel.

However, four months later, he announced that he was taking a break from producing content because he was dealing with burnout. Despite saying he’s “retired,” he continues to regularly post videos.
