In research by TripAdvisor on global tourism, it appeared that travel is the absolute priority of citizens
Vacations are a top priority for citizens worldwide, according to Tripadvisor’s “A Economic Portrait of the Traveler” study. Notably, almost all respondents (95%) said they would prefer to cut back on spending in other categories to save money for future vacations.
The remaining findings of the research are the following:
Globally, leisure travel represents the largest share of the annual consumer budget, with travelers spending nearly one in five dollars (19%) on leisure travel. They have the same percentage of 19% for food.
This is followed by shopping (18%), home improvement (14%) and entertainment (13%).
Despite global economic uncertainty, 78% plan to spend more or at least the same on travel as last year.
Three-quarters of those planning to cut back will avoid cutting back on travel plans. As mentioned above, almost all respondents (95%) said they prefer to cut back on spending in other categories to save money for future vacations.
