Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, 67, has a new girlfriend nearly two years after announcing his divorce from Melinda Gates, 58. The two were together for 27 years and have three children.
According to People magazine, this is Paula Hurd, 60, widow of Oracle CEO and former head of Hewlett-Packard, Mark Hurd. The first public appearance of the new couple took place during the final of the men’s tennis championship in Australia, last month.
According to the publication, the relationship is recent and she hasn’t even met Gates’ heirs yet. Hurd was married to Mark for nearly 30 years until his death in 2019. They both have two children.
Last year, Melinda spoke openly about the separation and said in an interview that realizing that it was necessary to ask for a divorce from Gates was very complicated.
In a conversation with USA Today, reproduced by the Page Six website, Melinda admitted to knowing that there are “low moments” throughout life and that she is not always happy, but that divorce was something she never thought could happen.
“It certainly wasn’t what I thought the day I got married,” she said in the interview. “But I realized on my own that I needed to make a healthier choice, and that was a very, very sad day.”
