These rubber boots look like the ones worn by manga character Astro Boy
Do you like cosplay? If you’re “stuck” with the latest fashion these are the boots that are making a splash right now. From Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2023 Minnie Mouse stilettos (which already have Kylie Jenner’s seal of approval) to Balenciaga’s Hummer Derby loafers, playful footwear seems to be on the rise.
This week, another pair of shoes has “stolen” the impressions. It’s about the big red boots. Now, why the fashion world has a toe fetish is another story.
These particular boots were presented by New York-based artist collective MSCHF, the same group responsible for Lil Nas X’s satanic sneakers and pricey Birkinstocks.
These rubber boots look like the ones worn by manga character Astro Boy. “Animated boots for a cool 3D world,” MSCHF says in the press release. “If you kick someone in these boots, they’ll go BOING!”.
The shoes, which will go on sale on February 16th for $350, have – naturally – caught the attention of the internet. On TikTok, a video of the boots being styled has so far surpassed 3 million views and over half a million likes within 24 hours.
