The awards ceremony will take place on 18 May at Grosvenor House
The British Academy “The Ivors Academy” announced that the Sting will become its twenty-third member among great songwriters such as Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
According to the announcement, it is the highest honor it has awarded in its 79-year history to those who have truly reshaped and redefined Art and Composition. For this reason, the singer will be honored with the “Fellowship” award on May 18 in London.
“Of all the awards in the music world, the ‘Ivors’ are the most important to me,” Sting, who has won seven Ivor Novellos, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, said in a statement.
According to Billboard that same year he was inducted into the New York-based Songwriters Hall of Fame. He also adds that “it is a great pleasure and honor to be offered this Academy membership, joining and recognizing an outstanding group of fellow songwriters and all those who have gone before.”
For the singer’s induction into the Academy, Amazon Music has shared an exclusive demo of the track ‘If It’s Love’ from his latest album ‘The Bridge’.
The awards ceremony will take place on May 18 at Grosvenor House in London.
