Matt Damon revealed during the press conference at the Berlin Film Festival that he is in the “early stages” of making a documentary project about Ukraine.

The American actor is the producer of the documentary “Kiss the Future” which chronicles the struggle of the citizens of Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The political documentary that had its world premiere in the special section of the Berlin Film Festival was directed by Nenant Chichin-Shine based on the memoirs of humanitarian Bill Carter “Fools Rush in: A Memoir”. In particular it shows how his determination led to the enlistment of the biggest rock band in the world, U2, to help shine the light.

Asked if he’s considering following in Sean Penn’s footsteps with a film about the war in Ukraine, Matt Damon, according to Variety, said he’s been “watching with horror like everyone else what’s unfolding there over the last year” and although “he has no about that now, there’s no doubt he will.”

“I actually have someone there doing research, but it’s in the early stages,” he continued, without elaborating. Matt Damon said he has yet to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but “had the opportunity to meet his wife in New York during the UN General Assembly.”

Damon said, however, that “there isn’t a blanket strategy” for making more political documentaries on an ongoing basis.
