Marília Mendonça’s makeup artist escaped an accident because he traveled by car

Makeup artist Eduardo Guimarães, who worked with Marília Mendonça among other famous ones, was on the team that would prepare the singer for the show he would perform in Piedade de Caratinga, in the interior of Minas Gerais. However, he did not travel on the private plane that crashed last Friday (5), killing the singer and part of her team.

Guimarães says that, as he was in São Paulo, he ended up traveling from the capital of São Paulo to Belo Horizonte, from where he would go by car to meet the singer. “My heart is broken, sad and desolate,” he wrote when he learned of the deaths of everyone on board.

“I lost a sister, a friend, a confidant, our relationship went beyond work, based on friendship and respect,” he continued. “I love you, Marília Mendonça. Tora yesterday, today and always.”

Still on social networks, he thanked the singer. “Thank you for everything we’ve lived together, thank you for recognizing me as a professional, but above all recognizing and valuing me as a person,” he wrote. “Today unfortunately our paths take different paths.”

This Saturday morning (6), he made postings from the airport in Belo Horizonte, before traveling to Goiânia to follow the singer’s wake. “Now that more time has passed, I think it’s starting to sink in that it really happened,” he said.

“I’m going to leave a hug for Marília’s family, for everyone in the fan clubs,” he said. “Let us stand in prayer, may God sustain us and give us strength.”

At the wake, the makeup artist told Quem magazine’s website that he’s still shaken. “I’m grateful for my life, but the loss is so much bigger… I lost my great friends. The balance, I’m alive, I’m fine, but the balance is negative. I wanted my friends together.”

He also said that the singer was in a great phase. “Last weekend was a four-day show and it looked like she was going to burst with happiness,” he said. “It seems like it was a farewell, the last moments being closed with a golden key.”
