Dave Grohl he reportedly spent 16 hours cooking food for the homeless in Los Angeles. Their leader Foo Fighters teamed up with the organization The Hope Mission to prepare meals that included roast meats, coleslaw and beans for the homeless. According to TMZ, the singer and guitarist of the rock group funded the initiative himself and “slept here and there in the parking lot” where the event was organized.

The celebration helped feed about 500 people. Fans of the 54-year-old musician took to Twitter to applaud his initiative and volunteer work. This is not the first time that Dave Grohl appears to offer to those in need. Earlier this year Foo Fighters released a statement revealing the fate of the band following the death of their drummer, Taylor Hawkins.

The group announced that they would continue to tour, but it would be “different going forward” without Hawkins. “The Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and the continuation of life. Over the past 27 years, our fans have created a global community, a dedicated support system that has helped us all get through our darkest moments together,” they noted.

“Without Taylor, we would never have become the band we were – and without Taylor, we know we’ll be a different band going forward,” they said.
