The country singer Luiza, from the duo with Maurílio Ribeiro, published an emotional farewell letter to her partner this Sunday (2). The letter, published on Instagram, is the artist’s first public manifestation since Maurílio’s death on December 29th.
Luiza begins the letter saying that at the beginning of February they completed seven years of being together. She reveals that she has been reaching for her notebook trying to write something to alleviate the pain in her chest and the desire to talk to her partner.
“I asked so much for God to get you out of there healthy, for me to hug you, to apologize for the countless times I took my PMS on you, to smell your clean clothes with Invictus. To sit with you and a guitar and sing only those , that we love.”
In the letter, she says that while Maurílio was hospitalized, she mentally talked to him, making promises. “I said I would become a Flamengo fan. I said I would wrap Zezé [Di Camargo] to give you away. That would wait for you with a pot of feijoada when you were discharged. I asked that everything was just a boring joke of life. I believed in your improvement until the end”
Luiza says that on the day Maurílio died she knew the great connection she had with him, even though she didn’t want to believe it. “Our connection was such that I felt you with me, your smell, your presence, I heard your voice, everything was crazy for me, and despite having been and being very difficult, I understood a lot these last few days.”
The singer lamented that you only learn by getting beaten up about the most valuable things in life. “I don’t even remember what I was like musically before you, I’m lost, scared, but I swear to you, no matter what I do with my life, I’ll take you, your voice, your dreams, your gaze… everything with me. Here inside.”
Luiza said that Maurílio will be very proud of her and thanked him for being a friend, brothers and one of the loves of her life. “I’m your fan. I’ll do everything I can to take care of your mom and Luana [viúva de Maurílio]. We are together here. You taught me more in those 15 days than I’ve learned in my 30s. I love you, my love. I love you so much!”
Maurílio died on December 29 at the Instituto Ortopédico de Goiânia (IOG). He had been hospitalized since the 20th in the ICU of a hospital after suffering three cardiac arrests due to pulmonary thromboembolism. Before that, he was hospitalized for five days at Hospital Jardim América.
The musician had been showing a worsening in his clinical condition since the night of December 28th. The last bulletin, shared by the musician’s press office, on the morning of the 29th, informed that he was still hospitalized in serious condition, and had shown another deterioration in the last 12 hours.
During the singer’s hospitalization, Luiza and the duo’s profile shared the medical report of his health status. In one of the publications, the singer asked for prayers for her friend. “We are not going to give up, nor be discouraged, keep praying, God is in charge and he is the one who knows everything! We are not going to be discouraged”, wrote Luiza.
