Actor Lima Duarte, 92, ran over a motorcyclist in the Barra Funda neighborhood, west of São Paulo. According to his advisory, it is not possible to attest who was to blame, but Lima provided help and now says he is available to help with the investigations.

In a note written by the actor himself, he gives more details about the incident. “I would like to clarify that, while driving my car, I was involved in an accident with a motorcycle. After the collision, I immediately provided the necessary assistance to the motorcyclist and waited for the arrival of the police”, says an excerpt from the statement.

“My priority was to ensure that the motorcyclist received the necessary assistance and that the situation was treated as seriously as possible. I would like to emphasize that I am a conscientious and responsible driver”, he amended.

“I am deeply sorry for what happened and I am available to help with the investigations and provide additional clarification, if necessary”, concludes Lima in the note.

VICTIM’S VERSION GOES AGAINST THE ACTOR

The motorcyclist is in the hospital and claims to have five broken bones in addition to many bruises. She says she will need surgery. In an interview with columnist Fábia Oliveira, she says that Lima Duarte was to blame for her fall. Now, she reveals that she doesn’t know how she will have the income to support her two children for as long as she will be on leave.

“I was in a lot of pain. And he said: ‘You put the motorcycle in front of me’. He wanted to blame me for the hit-and-run, as if I had thrown the motorcycle in front of his car. logic, I was right in front of him and he came with a speed far superior to mine”, he said.

“When I looked to my left, there was a car passing me at a much higher speed than I was on the bike. But he overtook me, scraping me, taking me with him. He wasn’t in enough space to pass the by my side. So, I looked at the car, it was already grabbing my arm”, he added.

Without registering in her portfolio, the professional claims that she now wants Lima to help her financially. “I earned, on average, R$1,000, R$1,200 a week. If I stay at home for two months, that’s eight weeks. Do the math on how much I’m not earning. And my bills won’t stop coming.”
