Selena Gomez she admitted she lied about not being affected by body-shamers’ negative comments. In fact, she revealed that she was locking herself in her room and crying.

“I lied. I would upload a picture and say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I don’t accept what you’re saying,'” the 30-year-old actress told Apple TV+ documentary Dear.

Gomezwho has had a run-in with body-shamers many times in the past, went on to say that despite presenting herself as strong to online trolls, the reality was different: she was crying inconsolably in her room.

“I was saying that their comments didn’t bother me because I wanted to help other people who are going through the same situation,” Gomez said, adding, “To be shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love, I think it’s so unfair. I don’t think anyone deserves all this.”

Selena Gomez is known to have been diagnosed with lupus in 2014. She noted that people online always found something negative to say about her, despite the painful side effects of her disease. “I was being shamed because I had gained weight because of my lupus,” she added.
