Following the presentation of the selected architectural proposal by David Chipperfield Architects and Alexandrou N. Tombazi SA. for its expansion and upgrade National Archaeological Museum, the Ministry of Culture and Sports presents the proposals of the nine partnerships international and Greek architectural offices.

“I must, in principle, emphasize that, as a whole, the proposals are of an extremely high aesthetic level, with a detailed study and vision for the National Archaeological Museum and the overall upgrading of the area of ​​the center of Athens. With unanimity and with high criteria, the seven-member International Multidisciplinary Evaluation Committee, under the chairmanship of Professor Andreas Kourkoulas, approved the proposal of David Chipperfield Architects and Alexandros N. Tombazi SA, so that in the coming years Athens will acquire a new A museum worthy of the valuable collections of EAM. The awarding of the Pritzker Prize 2023 – the highest architectural honor – to David Chipperfield, confirms the choice of the Committee”. said the Minister of Culture and Sports, Lina Mendoni.
