The fans of the successful TV series “Monk” will be thrilled to learn that Peacock has officially commissioned a film. The film, titled “Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie»will have Tony Shalhoub reprising his role as the compulsive detective, solving one last, very personal case involving his beloved stepdaughter Molly.

There is currently no word on whether Alona Tal, who played Molly in the series finale, will return. However, the project will welcome back Ted Levine as Capt. Leland Stottlemeyer, Traylor Howard as Natalie Teeger, Jason Gray-Stanford as Randall Disher, Melora Hardin as Trudy Monk and Hector Elizondo as Dr. Neven Bell.

The film will be helmed by the series’ original creative team, including Andy Breckman and executive producers David Hoberman and Randy Zisk. Speaking about the project, NBCUniversal’s Michael Sluchan said: “The film has the heart and humor of the original series with a modern relevance, and we’re thrilled to be working with the original creative team, including Andy, David Hoberman, Randy Zisk, the incomparable Tony Shalhoub and our partners at UCP, for what is sure to be a must-see cinematic event for Peacock audiences.”

Monk originally aired on the USA Network from 2002 to 2009 and followed eccentric detective Adrian Monk, who solved crimes in San Francisco while dealing with his own debilitating neuroses. The series garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fan base during its run, making the Monk reunion film an event that viewers have been eagerly awaiting.
