Piqué says Shakira didn’t think about her mental health and criticizes the singer’s Latin fans

In an interview with a Spanish podcast by streamer Gerard Romero, the athlete criticized Shakira’s lack of zeal in the song “Music Sessions” and said that she did not think about her mental health. In the song, the artist sends hints to him and his new girlfriend and accuses him of cheating.

“It’s okay to drop hints because it’s fashionable, but people don’t think about the consequences things can have on a mental level. We’re not aware of the other person until someone commits suicide. I’m very disappointed in what society is.” At another point, Piqué directs criticism at the singer’s Latin fans, and claims that she receives barbarities from them.

“My ex is from Latin America. You don’t know what I got on social media from people who are fans of hers. A lot of barbarities. They don’t care about anything. They are people who don’t have a life, but I don’t have to give importance because I’ll never meet them, I treat them like they’re robots.”

After the speech, the player was accused of xenophobia, and internet users have already dubbed him a non-grateful person in the region. The ex’s statements did not go unnoticed by the Colombian, who countered the comment and posted on social media that she is proud to be from Latin America, along with the flag of all countries in the region, including Brazil.
