Luciano Huck criticizes decision on New High School: ‘It makes no sense to go back to square one’

by

Luciano Huck criticized, this Monday afternoon (3), the government’s decision to suspend the implementation of the new High School. The presenter made a publication on his Twitter profile, which received more than 1,000 comments in less than two hours – most of them from teachers, who disagreed with him in the discussion.

“The New Secondary School should be above ideological differences. Even with difficult implementation, it makes no sense to go back to square one. The effort to offer a school that is more attractive to students and connected with their life and career expectations must be permanent” , wrote Huck, in a post that had more than 270,000 views.

State deputy and teacher Elika Takimoto was one of the Internet users who responded to the commander of “Domingão com Huck”. “Do you think that public school students – where they don’t even have teachers of all subjects – are able to offer all itineraries? This reform is a true apartheid”, she wrote.

Professor Toninho Vespoli, councilor elected by São Paulo, was also outraged by Huck’s position. “Luciano, what do you understand about Education? How many schools did you visit? What reality did you experience on the school floor? What is a more attractive school for you? I know that your interest is in defending foundations eager to get their hands on funding from public school, but have a minimum of decency”.

The implementation of the new high school format became mandatory in 2022 and has registered a series of problems. Students mainly complain about having lost class time in traditional subjects. The decision to suspend the measure was released on Monday, and should have an ordinance published in the coming days.
