With one month left until the coronation of King Charles 3rd and Queen Camilla, Buckingham Palace has finally released an invitation to the event that will take place at Westminster Abbey, in London, on May 6th. In the next few days, the 2000 people invited by the British royal family begin to receive the official call to the party, which, to the surprise of the subjects, was made of recycled paper, hand-painted and has the signature of Andrew Jamieson, an artist specialized in heraldic – symbolic the traditions of noble families.
According to the People magazine website, the invitation resembles the document made for the coronation ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II, in 1953, when Charles was 4 years old. In it, you can see the design of two birds perched on the letter C, forming the coat of arms of Charles and Camilla.
There are also sprigs of rosemary, strawberries and flowers in groups of three to reflect that Charles is the third king of his name. “The coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla,” reads the invitation. “By order of the king, the earl marshal is instructed to invite [nome] to be present at Westminster Abbey Church on 6 May 2023.”
It is not yet known whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the ceremony. The couple received a “save the date” letter, according to a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. “I can confirm that the Duke has recently received email correspondence from Her Majesty’s office regarding the coronation. An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be released by us at this time,” the statement said to People.
