With the last day of his shooting “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” brought to an end a nearly 10-year franchise for writer-director James Gunn, the cast of actors, including the lead Chris Pratt, but also of the workshop. The actor who played Peter Quill/Star Lord over the years decided to mark the last day of shooting of the third film with a speech addressing all those who made negative comments about the “Guardians” from the beginning of the series.

“I’m not a vindictive person … but I happened to have in my notes a lot of press clippings that I kept from the first movie, when everyone predicted that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ would be Marvel’s first flop,” Pratt said. “Everybody was saying these negative things. At the time, we were insecure and nervous about the prospects… They were saying that it’s a title that no one has ever heard of, it doesn’t feature actors from the first series, it’s going to be Marvel’s first failure. I remember all that,” added the actor.

“Of course none of that came true,” Pratt continued. “We had this great run. At the end, I wanted to read some of these scraps to the cast and crew and to James. Let me just say that we overcame a lot to get to where we are…we did something special.”

The movie “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will complete the trilogy when it hits theaters on May 5 from Disney.
