Egypt will soon be added to the host countries Fashion Week. The official Egypt Fashion Week is being organized from May 12 to 15, 2023 by the Fashion and Design Council under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, which revealed plans for the event during a press conference in the capital of the country, Cairo.

The Fashion Week theme will be ‘Past, Present and Future’ and the country’s designer collections shows and side events will celebrate the country’s historic culture, its current industry and its vision for the future.

The event will focus on the past and the Ancient Egyptians, but ultimately aims to showcase Egypt’s domestic fashion industry to a global audience, with an emphasis on the cotton and textile sector and the promotion of its resources.

Suzanne Sabet co-founder of the Egypt Fashion and Design Council said that they were chosen as themes “the past because the country’s designers must be inspired by its culture and heritage and use all the materials that have been used for thousands of years, the present because we live in the present and we know well what is happening in the world and the future we know where things are going and where we will be in a few years”.

The opening night of the Fashion Week will be held at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo with a presentation of the work of distinguished Egyptian designers.
