The top Taugetou or else Pyramid is located at 2407 meters altitude. It is perhaps the most impressive mountain peak in Greece and the most mysterious at the same time, since it is accompanied by a riddle that has been unsolved for thousands of years.

Is the absolute pyramid formed on the top of Taygetus a play of nature or a gigantic human construction that surpasses all imagination in terms of dimensions and degree of construction difficulty?

The images of my friend Manolis Nirgianakis who recorded the summit of Taygetos in white are truly captivating and ignite the human imagination.

A large number of researchers maintain that the peak of Prophet Ilias (2407 m. high), was carved, either in whole or in part, in order to acquire a pyramidal shape and function ritually and worshipfully.

This, as they say, is “proved by the absolute regularity of the pyramid” (visually, it is a perfect isosceles triangle) and above all, “by the artificial leveling of its base”, where the ground is relatively smoother and smoother.

This portion speaks of a megalithic monument, like those found throughout Europe, in the period 3,500 – 2,000 BC.

In any case, both the age of the pyramid and its original dimensions are impossible to calculate.
