On Sunday, April 23 at 17:45, on SKAI
As in every refugee district, so in Caesariani, in every alley and square you discover an old world and a nostalgia for other times. The tall apartment buildings succeed the small houses of the refugees with most of them now uninhabited, giving Kaisariani its current modern appearance. He gives us a tour of this district on Sunday with “Neighborhoods on a plate” The Dimitris Skarmoutsos.
The first stop in this authentic neighborhood of Athens could not be other than the famous “Kalopoula Refreshment”. A very well-kept secret of the city, in a green forest, located just 6 kilometers away from Syntagma Square.
Going down Ethnikis Antistaseos Avenue, Dimitris Skarmoutsos meets “Lousi”, which remains one of the oldest dairies in Athens where one can find fresh dairy products, yogurt, rice milk, creams, ice cream and of course fresh milk.
On this walk to Kaisariani he also finds the “Beer Garden Rittenburg”, its sibling in Pagrati was the first German restaurant in Greece. Father and son learned to make fluffy pretzels, huge schnitzels, homemade spaetzle pasta and of course excellent fries in many ways.
Finally, we get a dose of haute cuisine at “Seeds”, a tasteful fine dining restaurant by the very experienced chef Dimos Samourakis. Lots of flavors, alternating, balanced and unforgettable.
The return to the studio also brings two special recipes from Dimitris Skarmoutsos: risotto with spinach and fresh herbs and calzone with chicken and Gruyere.
See you next week in another neighborhood!
