The new sculpture will replace in the museum the old effigy of Aliki Vougiouklakis that was created in 2001, it was only the third sculpture she had created and at the time it was inspired by the movie “Modern Cinderellas”
With a new wax figure of Alikis Vougiouklakis, creator Thodoros Kokkinidis returns to the limelight, after the serious accident he had in October 2022, when a car with German plates, driven by an unidentified man, collided with the passenger car driven by Mr. Kokkinidis.
The result of the severe collision, which occurred at the exit of Egnatia Road, at the height of Moustheni in the municipality of Pangaios, was the very serious injury of Mr. Kokkinidis, who was extricated from the car by the men of the fire department. The driver of the car left him helpless and fled on foot. The police authorities are still looking for him in Greece and abroad.
Thodoros Kokkinidis had to undergo several surgeries and stay for two months in a rehabilitation center until his health could improve somewhat. However, all this time he did not lose his appetite and hope for a single moment, but above all his humor that always distinguishes him and his good mood.
He put a lot of effort into being able to recover and seven months after the serious accident that changed his life, he briefly returned to his workshop and completed the new wax figure of the Greek star. The new sculpture will replace in the museum the old effigy of Aliki Vougiouklakis that was created in 2001, it was only the third sculpture she had created and was then inspired by the movie “Modern Cinderella”.
The new wax figure is inspired by the film from “The Brightest Star” and as its creator emphasizes, “Alice carved a unique path in the field of cinema and theater in Greece. She shone and was loved by the audience like no other actress. Personalities like Alice never cease to inspire. From that time of her color films I was inspired and created her wax figure.
Two images of Alice prevailed in my mind: that of the popular girl who played in her films and managed to reach the top, and that of Alice the star. From the fish market stall to the brightest star and from the stage set, the first leading lady. This is how I present my work. With two different clothes that make up these images. The Alice of the fish market and the star Alice of the theater”.
Theodore Kokkinidis points out that he started creating the sculpture in March 2022 and completed it at the end of September 2022, however he left small details pending. “In October,” he notes, “I already started crafting the next project. It was the effigy of Dimitris Papamichael. But the unfortunate incident with the car accident kept me and still keeps me out of creation. As soon as my health allows it, I will eagerly go ahead and complete the statue of Dimitris Papamichail so that it can take its place next to that of Alice”, emphasizes the Kavaliot creator.
Thodoros Kokkinidis warmly thanks the dental technician Antonis Karagiannidis and his colleague Vicky Marinopoulou who patiently and generously created the dentures for the project, but also the hairdresser Periklis Tsachalidis who lovingly and expertly took care of the mannequin’s hairstyle.
The wax museum of Thodoros Kokkinides has a total of 34 wax figures, 22 of Greek and 12 of foreign personalities. It is located a few kilometers outside of Eleftheroupoli in the municipality of Pangaio, west of Kavala, in the local community of Kipion.
To get there, the visitor crosses a verdant road of unique beauty in the shadow of the famous Pangai mountain. The route compensates the visitor as it prepares him to enter a world full of loved ones, some of whom marked the history, letters and arts both in Greece and internationally.
