Bruna Marquezine gave an interview to the May issue of Vogue magazine and spoke about her career in Brazil, the international market and her entry into the world of fashion. She even said that she suffers from imposter syndrome to this day and that it is a challenge to accept her own merit.
An actress since the age of five, the artist has only now debuted as a producer and co-director, in the work “Amor da Minha Vida”, on the Star+ channel, which still does not have a release date, and claims that she was scared by the opportunity.
“This project came about during the pandemic. Matheus Souza, screenwriter and co-director, brought me together with filmmaker René Sampaio. They were generous and opened doors for me to be more involved, not just with the protagonist Bia. I was afraid to share my ideas, not to please. But Matheus put me at ease”.
This year, Bruna also debuts in her first international production, with the film “Besouro Azul”. Ahead of several jobs at Globo, where she joined at the age of five, she says that she decided to leave because she felt frustrated in always working with the same format and that she was moved to see the fans in Brazil for the success of the film.
“It’s an acceptance exercise. I took a step and I’m reaping the rewards. I was moved to see my country celebrating a victory that is ours. I didn’t grow up seeing many Brazilian women occupying this space. The film brings the feeling of conquering a new territory” , it says.
She claims that she lives with a constant self-boycott, a result of the imposter syndrome. “Despite being a Leo, I am often an abandoned kitten on the side of the road. It is a challenge to accept that I have merit while listening to the voice of the imposter syndrome.”
In addition to works on screen, the Brazilian invests in fashion and was at the Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks in 2022, and entered the area as a strategy. “We see that good relationships in fashion reinforce good relationships in the film industry. And then I continued doing the fashion weeks, but with more strategy. ‘Where did I want to go? What would be my focus?’ I started investing time and money in my image.”
The actress says that she hired a person to take care of her finances and invest a part of the value. “Before, it was my mother who was in charge of my money, but she is more conservative, and I want to invest, take risks, think in the long term.”
