Shakira, beyond a tumultuous personal period, he is enjoying a sweet professional moment. The Colombian artist received the “Woman of the Year” award at Billboard’s awards, “Women in Latin Music Awards” at an event held at the Watsco Center in Miami, where the singer currently lives with her children.

Pique’s former partner accepted the award and gave a speech that made headlines in the international media. “There comes a time in every woman’s life when she no longer depends on someone. She loves or accepts herself as she is,” Shakira said. And he continued: “The search for the other is replaced by the search for ourselves. The desire to be perfect is replaced by the desire to be authentic.”

Shakira now appears stronger than ever and her words seem to move many of her female fans. “It’s a year in which I realized that women are much stronger than we think,” said the singer. “We are braver than we think. We are also more independent than we were taught to be. What woman has not gone through the experience of seeking the attention, affection or approval of others and forgetting herself? This has happened to me.”

The artist also appreciated the attitude of women in certain situations that occur when they are in a couple.

“It doesn’t matter so much whether someone is faithful or not, what matters is that you continue to be true to yourself and your principles,” she added.

Shakira admitted that music helped her cope with many difficult situations in her life. “It’s true that when I felt most lost, it was music that put me on the path back to myself. I learned the most important lessons from other women. For them, for you, I wrote what I wrote and sang what I sang, because only a woman can love until she breaks herself,” he concluded.
